    Introduction

    About me

Hi I'm Ting-An, or just call me Ann. I am a licensed Art Psychotherapist currently based in Chester, UK.

I was born and raised in Taiwan. Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative media to express and communicate when words don't come easily. It can support individuals to process difficult feelings and experiences, build coping skills, self-awareness and acceptance— however, everyone’s art therapy journey is unique!

I offer a safe and non-judgmental space, and we can work together to find creative ways to support you. In an art therapy session, you will have the opportunity to create and have fun using the art materials. Together, we can explore what your artwork means to you and reflect on your experiences during the creative process.

Skills are not required, and you do not need to be good at art. Making art in the session is not a must, sometimes you might feel more comfortable just to talk, and that's OK!

    My approach

What it's like to work with me

In our first session, we’ll go through the therapy agreement together and I’ll explain what art therapy involves, you’re welcome to ask any questions at any point. I’ll also invite you to share your goals and what you hope to get out of our time together. I usually introduce a planned art therapy activity so you can get a feel for how sessions might look. This first meeting is really a chance for us both to see if we’re a good fit.

Throughout our work together, I check in regularly, usually every 6 sessions to reflect on what’s been helpful, what you’d like to explore further, and how you feel about your progress. I may use tools like the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (WEMWBS) to help us track this together.

I sometimes suggest creative reflections or tools to explore between sessions, such as making art or trying a grounding technique we’ve practiced. But there’s never pressure, these are always optional, and it’s completely okay if you’d rather just focus on the sessions themselves.

Why I love being a therapist

Art has always held a special place in my life — it’s where I found flow, expression, and connection from a young age. As I grew, I realised that I wanted to support others in a way that combined creativity with deep emotional healing, and that’s what led me to art therapy. Training as an art therapist helped me reconnect with the joy of creating not to impress, but to understand myself more deeply. I love that each therapeutic relationship is unique, no two sessions are the same. I’m always exploring new ways to support each person, and while it can be challenging, finding what resonates is incredibly rewarding. Witnessing growth, strength, and resilience in clients continues to inspire me every day.
