    Introduction

    About me

Hi, I’m Jax. With over 25 years of experience, I help people build awareness, create change, and find personal growth.

I’m a fully qualified psychotherapist, specialising in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and addiction treatment. My expertise covers substance use, trauma, relationships, and process addictions such as gambling, eating difficulties, and love addiction.

Over the years, I’ve worked in the NHS, in private practice, and for Action on Addiction, where I spent more than a decade as an Addictions Specialist. My experience spans group therapy facilitation, forensic work with adult offenders, expert witness roles in parole hearings, and supporting families and employers affected by addiction.

Clients often describe me as warm, non-judgemental, and empowering. My approach combines structure with compassion, helping people strengthen their relationship with themselves and others. My original training in the Creative Arts still shapes the way I work—bringing creativity, curiosity, and openness into therapy.

Whether you’re facing trauma, addictive patterns, or relationship challenges, I offer a safe and collaborative space to support your journey forward.

    My approach

What it's like to work with me

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know one another and understanding what you’re looking for. I work relationally, which means I see the therapeutic relationship itself as central to change. I listen not only to what’s said but also to what lies beneath the surface. Many clients tell me they value the safety and acceptance I create, a space where vulnerability is welcomed.

Through gentle encouragement and compassionate challenge, I help you untangle inner conflicts and make sense of old patterns. Together, we can “rewire and fire” new, healthier ways of being. My goal is to support you in building self-awareness, resilience, and the confidence to live more authentically, both in therapy and beyond.

Why I love being a therapist

Seeing that moment of clarity in someone — when the “light goes on” and new possibilities open up. Supporting people as they grow into their best selves is what inspires and drives my work.

    My interests & joys

I enjoy dancing, reading, and staying active with my dog on long walks. Movement, fresh air, and learning new things are important parts of my life and help me stay grounded.
