    Introduction

    About me

I’m Gisela, a neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist based in Lisbon, with experience working with adults and children through psychological support.

I'm curious about people and their stories since childhood, I grew up exploring different cultures and environments, which deepened my interest in understanding human experiences and the different contexts that shape them.

In my practice, I aim to build a therapeutic relationship that feels genuine, respectful, and deeply human. I’m particularly interested in how personal experiences, relationships, and social environments influence the way we think, feel, and respond to challenges.

Clients often appreciate the collaborative way we explore their experiences and make sense of recurring patterns in their thoughts and behaviours. Alongside reflection, I integrate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support meaningful change and personal growth.

Many people seek support during periods of transition or difficulty. For example navigating challenging developmental phases with their children, experiencing a sense of stagnation and a desire for personal growth, or adapting to significant life changes such as moving or changing jobs.

    My approach

What it's like to work with me

What to expect at our first session:

You can expect a warm and open space where we explore what has brought you to therapy. I will guide the conversation to better understand your current experiences and concerns, explain how approaches like CBT and ACT can help, and if it feels right, we will begin identifying possible goals for our work together.

    Progress in therapy:

For me, progress in therapy means seeing you develop greater self-awareness and understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and patterns. It also involves building practical strategies that help you navigate challenges and make meaningful changes in everyday life.

    Between sessions:

When helpful and agreed together, I may suggest small exercises or reflections outside of sessions. These are always tailored to support your goals in a way that feels relevant and manageable.

    Beyond therapy

Why I love being a therapist

What I value most about being a therapist is supporting people as they explore their thoughts, emotions, and patterns, and witnessing the insights and personal growth that emerge through that process.

    My interests & joys

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy reading and creative activities such as drawing, painting, ceramics, sewing, cooking, and building things. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, going for walks, staying active through sports, and sharing meaningful moments with family and friends.
