    Introduction

    About me

My path into psychotherapy began through my own process of self-exploration and personal transformation. What started as a personal search gradually became a vocation: accompanying others with curiosity, humility, and a loving presence that honors the complexity of human experience.

I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Gestalt therapist with an integrative and experiential approach. In my work, I aim to create a safe and attentive space where you can explore your experiences, emotions, and questions at your own pace. Gestalt therapy places importance on awareness, presence, and the relationship between therapist and client, helping people reconnect with themselves and discover new possibilities for change.

Alongside Gestalt therapy, I integrate trauma-informed, somatic and transpersonal perspectives, as well as emerging psychedelic-informed frameworks. Rather than following a single method, I see therapy as a living and collaborative process of exploration, where different approaches can support deeper understanding and transformation.

Many of the people I work with come to therapy during periods of transition, such as after a breakup, during identity changes, or when reconsidering their life direction or career path. Together, we work to bring clarity to what may feel confusing or overwhelming, transforming insight into grounded steps that support meaningful and lasting change.

Clients often share that they feel genuinely seen and understood in our work together, and that the process supports them in reconnecting with their authenticity, their own sense of direction, and freedom of choice.

    My approach

What it's like to work with me

The first session is a space for you to arrive, settle, and share what has been bringing you to therapy. Together, we explore what may feel difficult, confusing, or unresolved, and begin to bring greater clarity to your experience. We move at a pace that feels right for you, allowing space for what naturally wants to unfold.

During our sessions, the focus is on helping you reconnect with yourself. This includes becoming more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and bodily experience, and noticing how these different aspects of your inner world relate to one another. Through a quality of attentive presence and compassionate witnessing, we create a space where you can slow down, listen more deeply to your experience, and allow new understanding to emerge.

For me, progress in therapy is not only about reducing symptoms, but also about developing greater awareness and freedom in how you relate to yourself and others. Over time, many clients find they are able to understand their emotions more clearly, feel less overwhelmed by difficult experiences, and respond to situations with greater choice rather than falling into familiar automatic patterns.

At times, I may suggest a reflection or small practice between sessions if it feels supportive. The heart of the work, however, happens in our time together, and in the way the awareness that emerges in therapy begins to integrate into your everyday life.

Why I love being a therapist

What I value most about being a therapist is the opportunity for genuine human connection. Being present with someone as they explore their experiences, gain insight, and grow is deeply meaningful to me. Witnessing these moments of resilience and transformation is both humbling and inspiring.

    My interests & joys

Outside of my work, I enjoy music—singing and playing instruments—dancing, practicing yoga and meditation, and spending time in nature. I’m also passionate about travel, discovering different cultures, and reflecting on life through philosophy and spirituality.

Catarina is a Clinical Psychologist and Gestalt psychotherapist working in private practice in Lisbon and online. She supports individuals facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including periods of transition, relationship difficulties, identity questions, and the search for greater clarity and personal meaning.

Alongside her clinical work in private practice, she has extensive experience working in multicultural contexts with migrants, refugees, and expatriates. Her work often involved supporting people navigating life changes, cultural transitions, and the emotional impact of displacement and integration.

In Barcelona, she worked as a psychologist at HogarSí, providing psychological and psychosocial support to people experiencing social exclusion from diverse cultural backgrounds. Earlier in her career, she also worked with organisations supporting migrants and displaced populations, including CRESCER in Lisbon and EXIL in Barcelona, offering psychological assessment, psychosocial intervention, and intercultural mediation.

These professional experiences deepened her interest in trauma-informed care and in understanding how life transitions, migration, and cross-cultural experiences can shape identity, relationships, and psychological wellbeing.
